Parenting for 2.5 to 5 Years

Here are parenting sessions for parents whose children are between 2.5 to 5 years of age. This is a series of 7 sessions covering important topics of child development in these crucial years. All the sessions aim to develop a child holistically through better parental understanding and improving the way they treat/handle the child. Children at this age are highly moldable and also have very high grasping capacity - many a times, improper parenting may lead to a lot of developmental issues, which worsen as the child grows-up. Better parenting will hence lead to happier families and healthier societies.

Parent Child 2.5 to 5 Year

1. Understanding Parenting and Child Development

This session introduces the new age changes that have come up and because of that what are the changes we have in our family structure. Also focuses on the changes it brought to our child-rearing practices. This session will also enable parents to understand the brain development happening during this age. The development child is making in all the other aspects: Physical, Cognitive, Socio-Emotional and Language.

2. Planning Developmentally Appropriate Activities

This session will give you an insight into how to plan, and create activities that ensure physical and emotional development inculcating different activities.Topics like types of play, toys that enhance mental and physical development, the importance of storytelling, and music and movement will help the journey of parenthood become more smooth yet impactful with actionable takeaways that can be implemented in day-to-day life with children.

3. Effective Communication with Child

This session will help you understand the importance of communication with a child. Majorly, the kind of languages and words we use with our child, how it may impact the child to develop appropriate or inappropriate behaviors. The session will help parents to change their way of communication with their children and see the changes they have always wanted to see in their children.

4. Health, Safety and Food

This session will give you an insight into the importance of health and safety and how the home environment, as well as the outside environment, affects child development. We have covered topics like the importance of sleep with benefits, nutritional knowledge for parents and home setup and safety to be considered during the upbringing of children. It is rightly said that holistic development takes place when a child is exposed to all the things having proper balance and this session will place equal emphasis on health, food, and safety.

5. Behavior Development (Designing Your Child )

These sessions will help parents understand different strategies for changing the behavior of their child. Both of the sessions provide step by step guide to implement these strategies. These strategies include; Praise, Prompts, Shaping, Stimulation, Modeling, Positive opposites, Point program, Attending and Planned Ignorance, Punishment, Time out, Time in. And lastly focuses on a troubleshooting strategy, if any of the mentioned strategies do not give an expected result.

6. Sharing Responsibilities among Family Members

This session enables parents to have a deeper understanding of the involvement of all the stakeholders, fathers and grandparents. The session talks about the benefits of the involvement of other caregivers and the different ways these caregivers can be involved in the child-rearing process. Also focuses on the importance and impact a happy family will have on a child’s holistic development and lastly talks about ways parents can have involvement in their pre-schools for their better learning process.
