Lohri celebrates fertility and joy of life, birth of child or marriage in the family. In the morning on Lohri day, Children go from door to door singing and demanding the lohri loot in the form of money, til, sweets etc. They sing to praise Dulha Batti, Robin Hood of Punjab who robbed rich and helped the poor. He once helped the miserable village girl by getting her married as his own sister. In Lohri, sugarcane juice, jaggery and sweets are distributed. Huge bonfire is lit. People offer sweets and rice to the fire. Now a days, Lohri brings in opportunity for people to take time from their busy schedule and get together.

Holi :-
Happy Holi

Holi is a festival of colours.People squirt colours on each other’s.People enjoy and are joyful as it is victory of good over the evil. There was a king named “HiRanyakashyapu.” He was very proud of him self. He wanted him self to be worshipped as a God. But his son Prahlad refused to do so.]

Prahlad was a devotee of lord Vishnu. One-Day young Prahlad was made sit on his aunt’s lap. His aunt was “ hoilka.” It was believed she would never burn in the bonfire.

Bonfire was lit. A miracle happened. Prahlad was saved but Hoilka was burnt into ashes.

Prahlad was saved by lord Vishnu.

That is the reason we light bonfire a day before we play Holi. Thus it is said it is a victory over the evil by the good. Thus people play Holi by squirting colours over each other’s.

Care to be taken:
Festivals give us joy but because of our carelessness they become sorrowful events. For eg: You should be very careful when you lit fire crackers in Diwali, you should be very careful when you fly kites, beware of chemical colours, take care you don’t use those colour which may harm your skin or eyes.

Good thought :- Essence of love isn’t a feeling- it is a state of being. It is the state in which you are in contact with being.
