Project brief

Every year the Math-Fair is organized by the children so as to make learning math fun just like a fair, and to relate the concepts of math they have learnt in the classroom to real life situations which in turn helps in removing the science & maths subject phobia. The fair is open to all the members of the society so as to engage them in the activities of the school and to spread the importance of education in and around the area.

Purpose of taking this project

The fair is organized in order to remove the phobia prevailing in the students and to make learning Math both interesting and enjoyable for them. Also involving the society in the activities of the school helps spread the importance of education in and around the area.

Project details

Math is seen as tough and dry subject by most of the students, especially in the primary years of their education. Math in isolation seems a very impractical and incongruous subject. In these developmental years when kids are developing their taste and choice for subjects and topics most of them seem to deviate from this subject due to multiple reasons like; low numerical abilities, irrelevance of what is being taught, lack of applicability of what is being imparted in these subjects and so on. So efforts should be made in earlier years of education in order to break this phobia for Math and attract them towards this seemingly difficult subject.

Math-Fair is a beautiful way of integrating the fun element of a fair with the very basic yet essential concepts of Math. Through this fair children learn to relate the concepts of Math they have learnt in classroom to real life situations. Simple concepts of estimation, distance, length, volume, weight etc. are dealt with in a concept clearing way through this fair, thus attracting the students to this seemingly difficult subject. The fair is open to all the members of the society so as to engage them in the activities of the school and to spread the importance of education in and around the area. This method also helps the teachers and parents recognize, expose and develop further the hidden talents of children like their communication skills, mathematical abilities, inter personal and organizational skills.

Project Deliverables
